Smart Shopping – My Trader Joe’s List!

Smart Shopping – My Trader Joe’s List!

I literally buy the same groceries every week. The staples are almost always the same, however I do incorporate some “fun” items when seasons change or I need to feel more excited about my usual meals.

My Weekly List:

  • Power Greens (I buy 3 bags to cover 4 daily heatable salad lunches and fresh nightly salads)
  • Cucumbers, Tomatoes
  • Zucchini
  • Green Beans, Carrots, Celery, Broccoli/Cauliflower (I rotate with these)
  • Avocados
  • Red Pepper, Green Pepper (ayurvedically these aren’t conducive for me (vata-pitta), however I do use sparingly in curries)
  • Cilantro
  • Raspberries, Blueberries
  • Lemons, limes
  • Vanilla Almond Milk
  • Almond Butter
  • 2% Greek Yogurt
  • Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
  • Manchego Cheese (easier to digest)
  • Kombucha

My “Fun” List:

  • Butternut or Acorn Squash
  • Sweet Potatoes, Yams or Baby Pototoes
  • Sun Dried Tomatoes
  • Basil
  • Pineapple, blackberries, or pomegranates
  • Goat Cheese
  • Lebne

Always on Hand:

  • Manuka Honey
  • Spices
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Sesame Oil
  • Pumpkin butter or all fruit spread
  • Quinoa
  • Mills cereal (oats and nuts version, only sugar is the raisins)
  • Polenta
  • Vegetable Pasta Spirals

In my Freezer:

  • Nuts: Almonds, Pecans, Cashews, Pine Nuts, Walnuts
  • Mango, Strawberries, Spinach, Acai, bananas (peeled & 1/2 for easy smoothie servings)
  • White Fish, shrimp
  • Vegan nuggets (for the kid in you!)
  • Garlic and ginger (TJ’s sells these and they are the BEST little trays of individual servings!)

There’s an extra bonus I love at Trader Joe’s….free coffee! I go early, get a little coffee then maneuver my way through my shopping list. This does many things. 1. I’m not shopping hungry. 2. It focuses my brain so I’m not distracted. 3. I tend to stick to my list. No splurges. 4. It’s enjoyable.

And life should be enjoyable! 🙂
